Great Parents, Great Start
Great Parents, Great Start (GPGS) serves families with children newborn to age five. Its goal is to promote the overall health and cognitive development of young children, and to provide parents instruction and access to services to give their children the best start in life. Southwest Solutions’ GPGS program provides home visits by child development specialists to eligible families. Our specialists are bilingual, and serve Arabic, Hispanic and English-speaking families. We also offer many free parent/child playgroups that feature fun learning activities.

How to enroll:

Our Great Parents, Great Start (GPGS) program is part of the Great Start Collaborative - Wayne County. Families with a child newborn to age four are eligible for GPGS home visits if they qualify. Qualifying requirements include social, financial, educational, medical, psychological, English as a Second language, and family-size factors. To learn more about eligibility, please contact us. You may also download the GPGS brochure.

GPGS parent/child playgroups are held regularly in different locations in the community, and are open to all families with young children. Families participate in fun activities that promote healthy development and positive communication. See the upcoming schedule.

Our Family Literacy main office is located at 7060 McGraw St., Detroit, MI 48210 (in the former rectory of St. Andrew Church). For more information about GPGS or any of our programs and how to enroll, please contact us at 313.896.2800 or email us.
